December 2023: Reflecting on Leadership and Work/Life Balance

As I enter the inevitable wind down towards the end of 2023 I have been reflecting on the last eleven months and specifically having the opportunity to connect with like-minded people in the senior leadership, coaching, and procurement spheres.

The London Economic kindly asked me to write about senior leadership. I decided to explore the concept of balancing work-life to enhance leadership skills and authenticity. Please see Kathleen Harmeston on how work life balance can create more authentic and effective leaders for more detail on the benefits of :-

  • Opening up and being more vulnerable to staff, whilst not oversharing ;
  • Enhancing work-life balance by developing interests outside of work to improve emotional intelligence and  leadership skills;
  • Getting involved in educational projects and charitable/volunteering efforts in your spare time;
  • Looking after yourself and learning to prioritise your health before attempting to help others- both at home and in the workplace.

I have some exciting activities coming up in the next few weeks which I look forward to sharing with you in due course.

Merry Christmas and best wishes for 2024
